Family Fun at VSA Day!

Duthie Park, Sunday 12th June 2011 from 10am to 4pm

Local social care charity VSA will be holding its annual family fun event – VSA Day – on Sunday 12th June 2011 in the Duthie Park, to raise awareness and funds for its caring work with individuals and families, young and old in the community. The event has CNR International as its proud sponsor for the third year running.

During the event, VSA will be filling the park with activities for all ages, including funfair rides and ‘Waterballs’, the Dezibel Drummers, bouncy castles and face painting – plenty to entertain the young and the young-at-heart! There will be stalls selling crafts, hand-made chocolates and jewellery while VSA’s staff, service users and volunteers will be manning their own fun stalls, such as hoopla, coconut shy, hook-a-duck and horsey hopper races, while VSA’s Easter Anguston Farm will be selling plants and shrubs grown at the farm. You can even get golfing tips from the Paul Lawrie Foundation.

As well as performances from local dance acts and the brilliant up and coming singer, Jenna Jay, we’re delighted that local band Outbox will also be performing live in the afternoon. Outbox are currently celebrating the success of their latest charity single, Blame It On The Fear, which is 17th in the Scottish charts.

Food, drinks, sweets and ice cream suppliers will make sure no one goes hungry. The Scottish Ambulance Service, Grampian Fire Service and the Aberdeen Council Waste Awareness team will also be in attendance.

Speaking of the event, Karen Barlow, VSA’s Head of Fundraising said: “This event is certainly one of the highlights on the VSA calendar. It’s a great opportunity for us to get across the message of what we do to a large number of people in the local community, and also provides a huge amount of fun for all involved. All we need now is a sunny day!”
