FIRST OPEN EVENTS TO BE HELD AT NEW CANCER SUPPORT CENTRE

An Aberdeen-headquartered cancer support charity is looking forward to welcoming members of the public and supporters to its new purpose-built headquarters.

CLAN Cancer Support is hosting two open events on Saturday, December 03, and Wednesday, December 07, to allow supporters and the local community the chance to visit its new base on Westburn Road, in Aberdeen.

The charity moved into the new premises at the beginning of November and is already seeing the benefits the increased facilities have had on the day-to-day work carried out by the charity.

The centre will allow CLAN to develop current services as well as introduce planned new services and activities over the next year.

As a result of the increased facilities within the building, CLAN aims to ensure new clients will not have to wait more than three working days for an appointment.

Debbie Thomson, CLAN Cancer Support chief executive, is looking forward to showing the public how the community’s fundraising has helped the charity recognise its dream.

She said: “To be finally welcoming people to our new centre is just fantastic, a dream come true. The response we have had from clients and visitors to the building so far has been extremely positive.

“Without the support of the people of the North-east, Orkney and Shetland we wouldn’t be welcoming people to this fantastic facility and we really cannot begin to thank everyone enough for their continued – and unwavering – support. It has been outstanding.”

CLAN House will be open on Saturday, December 03, between 1.00 – 4.00pm and on Wednesday, December 07, between 5.00pm – 8.00pm.

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
