Golf shop and bar plans backed by councillorsPlans to breathe new life into an Aberdeen city centre listed building have won the green light from Aberdeen city councillors. Development Management Sub-Committee members unanimously agreed plans from Gamola Golf Ltd to convert the vacant former International Casino at 47–53 Market Street into a golf shop, café/bar and offices.
The C-listed building, which lies in the Union Street Conservation Area, will be converted to retail on the ground floor, golf simulator bars and a bar/café on the first floor, and offices on the second.
A report to the sub-committee from Head of Planning and Sustainable Development Dr Margaret Bochel said: “The proposal would result in the use of a listed building which is currently vacant and would help ensure its maintenance in the future, which is to be welcomed. The proposed use is appropriate within the city centre and would be in keeping with the nature of surrounding uses.” 91 views
