Gray's Students Prepare for Final Year Degree Show

Final year students at Robert Gordon University's Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen are preparing for the School's annual Degree Show which has taken place for 126 years. For the eighth year running, it is being sponsored by BP.

This year's talent showcase will be launched on Friday 17 June, providing an ideal opportunity for visitors both to see emerging talent and engage in discussion about the ideas behind the work. Over the years Gray's Degree Show has become a firm favourite with the Aberdeen public, giving people the opportunity to see a range of final year undergraduate projects, spanning fashion and textiles, 3D and product design, graphics, digital media, visual communication, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and electronic media.

Professor Paul Harris, Head of Gray's School of Art said, "The creative energy of Gray's students means that they are continually pushing the boundaries and visitors to the Degree Show will see the integration and extensive use of digital-media, photography, animation, time-based and interactive media co- existing and complementing work produced through traditional processes."

BP's continued support of the Show emphasises the very important synergy that exists between art, design and industry, and the world beyond art school. This underlines Gray's School of Art's ambition to be the Professional Art School driving and supporting the region's creative industries at an international standard.

Tim Smith, Vice President Communications & External Affairs, BP Scotland, said:

"BP is delighted to continue our support of Gray's Degree Show to help showcase new talent and to reinforce the growing reputation for excellence in the arts in the North-east of Scotland."

Paul Harris added, "We are very grateful to BP for their continued support of the Degree Show. Their involvement provides an added dimension to the Show and gives great encouragement to the School's graduating cohort of talent."

Gray's School of Art Degree Show 2011, sponsored by BP, will be launched on Friday 17 June. The show will then be open to the public from 18 to 25 June (10- 5pm throughout the weekend and from 10-8pm on weekdays).
