Harbour roads to shut for mains repairs

Roads in the harbour area will be closed from Tuesday 17 May for up to six weeks while new gas mains are laid.

Garvock Wynd will be closed near the Miller Street junction, with an alternative route via Links Place, Wellington Street and Waterloo Quay. Miller Street will be shut between Garvock Wynd and Church Street, with an alternative route via Castle Street, Commerce Street and Waterloo Quay. Waterloo Quay will be closed from Commerce Street to Church Street, with an alternative route via Commerce Street, Castle Street and Miller Street.

Church Street will be made one-way southbound and a prohibition of waiting will be in force on all the above roads.

Garvock Wynd will be closed for the duration of the works. Miller Street and Waterloo Quay will be closed as works progress. The sequence of roads to be worked on, and the restrictions to be imposed, is Miller Street, Church Street and finally Waterloo Quay. The Miller Street and Waterloo Quay restrictions may be enforced at the same time as Church Street is made one-way for short periods.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but no through traffic will be allowed during the closures.
