HESS AND SPARROWS OFFSHORE WIN THEIR LEAGUES IN CORPORATE HIGHLAND GAMES

On Saturday 25th June, Hazlehead Park was the venue for the 5th event of the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon - the Highland Games and Charity Challenge sponsored by Shell.

The sun came out in the afternoon, helping to create a fantastic atmosphere for the 3000 people who attended the event. It proved to be a fantastic day out for all the family with the side-line entertainment and catering being a massive hit!

Sparrows Offshore won League 1 but they had close competition from Halliburton and GE Oil & Gas who came in second and third respectively. In League 2 Hess came out victorious after a tight battle with Petrotechnics who came in second and EnQuest who took third place.

Ten mascots took part in a Charity Dash for CLAN. The mascot race was won by Blaze the Bear who was supported by Hunting. Other mascots were supported by BP, Lloyd’s Register, Maersk and Apache who all watched their mascots take part in the close race.

Debbie Thomson, Chief Executive - CLAN said, “CLAN were delighted to be part of the Shell Highland Games on Saturday. It was a superbly organised event and really gave CLAN the chance to raise some money, but more importantly awareness of what we do. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the Mascot race was a particular high point! Thanks to the generous support from all those involved, CLAN raised over £5000, which is just an amazing total.”

This is the 8th year Shell have sponsored the Corporate Highland Games, Glen Cayley, Vice-President – Technical for Shell Upstream Europe said; “The Corporate Decathlon is a key event in the local business calendar and we are delighted to once again be associated with the Highland Games element. As a company we greatly value our staff resource and the team building, staff interaction aspects that these Games offer are excellent. As a result we continue to see significant value in being involved in the Corporate Decathlon.”

The results from the Shell Highland Games Challenge mean that Baker Hughes and PwC have held their positions at the top of their leagues but the competition is getting fierce for the 6th event of the decathlon, Touch Rugby next month!
