High-profile Australian delegation heads to AberdeenDelegates from Australia’s Northern Territory Government are plotting a course for the Granite City. Rob Knight, the Government’s Minister for Business and Employment, will lead the group, which is due to arrive in Aberdeen on Monday [September 26].
During the four-day trip, they will visit local organisations and companies and meet representatives from Aberdeen City Council and Grampian Chamber of Commerce.
The trip aims to build on trade links and the delegation will consider future business development opportunities for Aberdeen during their time in the city. It has been organised as part of Aberdeen City Council’s commitment to support the city’s export-driven economy and to help local companies enter new international markets to bring wealth to the area.
Gordon McIntosh, the Council’s Director of Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure, welcomed news of the delegation’s visit.
He said: “This visit by Minister Knight continues the close relationship between Aberdeen and the Northern Territories.
“As a global energy hub there is much that Aberdeen can offer to our colleagues in the Northern Territory as they develop their capabilities in the oil and gas industry, while also promoting the capabilities of companies in the city.”
Mr McIntosh is due to visit Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, later this year where he will make presentations to industry leaders and oil company representatives.
Aberdeen College’s Oil and Gas Training facility (ASET) is among the organisations which will welcome the Australian visitors next week.
George Reid, ASET chief executive, said: “We are delighted to welcome such a prestigious delegation and it is a compliment to ASET that the visit is during the development of our new Oil and Gas Academy.” 94 views
