Scottish parliament report brings high speed rail a step closer
Commenting on today's publication of the Scottish Parliament Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee's report on its inquiry into the potential benefits of high speed rail services, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said: "Businesses in Scotland are convinced of the economic benefits which would result from the construction of a dedicated high speed rail link between Scotland and London, and we are pleased that this view is now shared by the Scottish Parliament's Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee."With the UK Government and opposition parties seemingly keen on the principle of high speed rail, it is vital that Scotland's public and private sectors work together to ensure that we derive the full benefits from this new rail infrastructure from the outset. "Scottish Chambers of Commerce have been leading the way in bringing together the various interested parties through our High Speed 2 Scotland grouping and we look forward to working closely with the UK and Scottish Governments to help deliver an iconic transport system we can take pride in."
