Hilltop Dining

Earlier this month, the owners of Raemoir House Hotel – Neil & Julie Rae, carried out a promise he had made to two lucky auction prize winners and their friends - that they would dine in style on top of the Hill o’ Fare, which rises behind the hotel.

Despite unpromising weather in the weeks before the event, a marquee was erected, and twice in the space of a week, a fantastic menu was created by David Littlewood, Raemoir’s Executive Chef, and served al fresco with a 360 degree view of Aberdeenshire as the panoramic backdrop.

The participants were Dr Katrina Morton from Banchory, and her husband and friends, who bid for the auction item at the Banchory Summer Ball. Initially the prize was for two, but proved hard to keep under wraps, so was extended to dinner for 8 in Banchory’s most exclusive restaurant! As the auction item was so unique Mr Rae was convinced to sell it twice due to popular demand so it was also experienced by Aberdeen resident Drummond Whiteford and 13 friends in the same week. Mr Rae said “As a unique photo opportunity we offer to take brides and grooms with their photographer up the hill for some fantastic backdrop photography. It was during one of these trips that we had the idea of the Dinner and as we are always looking for innovative ways to serve our customers whilst retaining the highest levels of product and service, it fitted perfectly with our philosophy of trying to stay one step ahead. Organising such an event involved the whole team at the hotel and the kind permission of Dunecht Estates, who were tremendously supportive. It was a lot of work but great fun and the weather was fortunately kind to us on both nights. We’ve had numerous enquiries as a result so it reassuring to know that Raemoir continues to offer and deliver a different level of customer service and satisfaction.”
