HOTEL GROUP CHECKS IN WITH TOP AWARDS

A Scottish hotel group is celebrating after winning worldwide acclaim from the toughest of critics – its guests.

Skene House HotelSuites’ three properties in Aberdeen have all received Certificates of Excellence from TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel review website, in recognition of the consistently high rating of 4.5 out of 5 each property achieved over the last year.

Skene House Rosemount individually has been further honoured when Expedia – the global leading online travel company – named it among its 500 top-ranked hotels from the 130,000 properties it features on its global website. Only 12 hotels on the Expedia Insiders Select List are in the UK, with four in Scotland and Skene House Rosemont the only hotel in Aberdeen.

Skene House HotelSuites have been operating in Aberdeen for more than 30 years and provides 186 four star, one to three bedroom HotelSuites (serviced apartments plus hotel services) at three locations – Skene House Rosemount, Skene House Whitehall and Skene House Holburn.

While the properties enjoy high occupancy rates from the oil and gas sector, Skene House HotelSuites has also led the way in developing the Scandinavian leisure market by packaging weekends such as golf breaks or visits to distilleries and castles, providing a major boost to the North East’s tourism market.

Director and General Manager Peter Medley said the recognition from the world’s two best travel websites is a superb acknowledgement of the efforts everyone at Skene House HotelSuites has made to deliver high levels of service.

The 2011 Expedia Insiders Select List is based on more than 500,000 annual guest reviews, combined with a value rating and the local market expertise of more than 500 Expedia employees. The List formally recognises individual hotels that consistently deliver excellent service covering such areas as value for money, sleep quality and cleanliness.

Christine Petersen, President of TripAdvisor for Business, said a 4.5 rating out of a maximum of 5 is something that all the Skene House HotelSuites can be proud of.

Skene House HotelSuites’ three properties all feature in the Top 5 out of 67 Trip Advisor Hotels in Aberdeen – with the Rosemount property being no 1 since April 2010.
