How to contact the council over the festive break

Aberdeen City Council offices will be closed from Friday [23 December] and will re-open on Wednesday, 4 January 2012.

The customer contact centre will remain open throughout for emergency calls regarding housing repairs, environmental issues and infrastructure – including roads and buildings. Problems can be reported by calling 08456 080919.

The council’s Social Care and Wellbeing service will be closed on December 26, 27 and 30 and on January 2 and 3. A limited service will be provided on December 28 and 29.

All residential establishments and homecare services will operate as usual during the holiday period. During office hours, the limited service provided on the days above will be available at the following establishments:

When offices are closed or outwith normal opening times, the social work out of hours duty team will offer a limited service for emergencies only. The out of hours duty team can be contacted by calling 01224 693936.

All calls relating to Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure can be made via the customer contact centre on 08456 080919.

If a grit bin needs to be topped up, please call Aberdeen City Council on 08456 080919 with details of the grit bin location or call 01224 241511 and leave a message, stating the location of the box. Alternatively you can use the Report It link on the city council website at www.aberdeencity.gov.uk

The council’s Housing and Environment department will be taking calls via the customer contact centre on 08456 080919.

 

All waste, recycling and garden and food waste collections will continue as normal over the festive period. Collection times may vary so containers should be placed at the kerbside by 7am on the day of collection. Over the holiday period it would be helpful if car owners could arrange to park their vehicles in a position which will allow bin crews safe access to your wheeled bins.

Neighbourhood Recycling Points will be available throughout the festive season. The four Household Waste and Recycling Centres will be closed on the 25 December and 1 January.

The city council’s Bereavement Services can be contacted on 01224 522485 during the festive period as follows:-

27 December 2011 – 9am to 4.30pm

28 December 2011 – 8.30am to 5pm

29 December 2011 – 8.30am to 5pm

30 December 2011 – 9am to 12pm

3 January 2012 - 9am to 4.30pm

 

The Registrar’s of Births, Deaths and Marriages will be open at Marischal College as normal from 8.30am to 5pm on 28 and 29 of December. Restricted opening hours of 9am to 12 pm apply on 27 and 30 of December and 3 January. Any queries can also be directed to 01224 522616 during opening hours.

 

The Homelessness out of hours helpline will be in use throughout the festive season and can be contacted on 01224 693350. A Standby Officer will get in touch with the caller, provide advice and assistance and arrange temporary accommodation as required.

 

The Environmental Health team will be providing an emergency service only. In emergencies they can be contacted on 01224 693350.

 

The Anti-Social Behaviour telephone helpline 08456 066548 will close at 5pm on 24 December 2011 and will reopen at 5pm on 27 December 2011 until 5pm on 30 December 2011. The Service will reopen as normal on 5 January 2012.

 

The Marischal College Customer Service Centre will close at 5pm on Friday 23 December but will be unable to take any cash payments from 2pm. Credit/Debit card and cheque payments will still be accepted until 5pm. The Customer Service Centre will reopen with a limited service as follows:-

 

Wednesday 28 December 2011 – 8.30am to 5pm

Thursday 29 December 2011 – 8.30am to 5pm

 

Council Tax and Benefit enquiries can be made by calling 0845 608 0921 from 8.30am to 5pm on 28 and 29 December 2011.

 

The automated telephone helpline will be available 24 hours a day. Customers can use this service to make a payment for Council Tax, Housing Rents, Invoices, Penalty Charge Notices and Housing Benefit Overpayments.

 

The Accord Card office will be closed, but messages can be left on the helpline number 0845 3452789 and calls will be returned in the New Year.

 

Across the city Customer Access Points will be offering a reduced service or closed throughout the festive season.

 

Woodside Customer Access Point will close on Friday 23 December. The cash office will close at 2pm and the Customer Access Point will close at 5pm. The Access Point will re-open from 9am on 4 January 2012.

 

Mastrick Customer Access Point will close on Friday 23 December. The cash office will close at 4pm and the Customer Access Point will close at 5pm. Credit/Debit card and cheque payments will still be accepted until 4.30pm. The Access Point will re-open from 8.30am on 4 January 2012.

 

Kincorth Customer Access Point will close at 5pm on Friday 23 December but will be unable to take payments from 4.30pm. It will reopen (but without payment facilities) as follows on Saturday 24 December from 10am to 1pm, 28 December from 9am to 5pm and on 29 December from 9am to 5pm

 

The Kincorth Customer Access Point will then close for the remainder of the festive period, re-opening as normal on 4 January 2012 at 9am.

 

A wide array of facilities will be closed or operating a reduced service across Education, Culture and Sport.

 

The city’s school estate will close at the end of the working school day on Friday 23 December. They will re-open on Monday 9 January 2012.

 

The Art Gallery, Maritime Museum and Provost Skene's House will be open from 10am to 5pm on 24, 28, 29 and 30 December as well as 4 January 2012.

 

All council offices are expected to be open as normal on 4 January 2012.
