Ice and wind may cause problemsSevere weather warnings remain in place for the North-east tonight and tomorrow [Tuesday and Wednesday] with gusts of up to 54mph forecast, along with sleet and hail. The air temperature looks set to remain above zero, but road surface temperatures are predicted to be below freezing, which combined with wet conditions means roads and pavements may be icy.
City residents are advised to secure any items in their garden which may be lifted by the wind. This includes garden furniture, play equipment and bins.
Motorists and pedestrians are warned of the risk of ice and flying debris and to take particular care. Motorists are warned not to be fooled by the temperature sensors in their vehicles, which give the air temperature, not the road surface temperature.
The council’s winter maintenance operations will continue. The gritters will be out.
Weather-related problems, including damage to council properties and felled or damaged trees can be reported by calling Aberdeen City Council’s contact centre on 08456 080919. Callers are asked to give as much information as possible.
Residents are advised to keep an eye on the weather forecast and pay attention to local news bulletins. 75 views
