IFB extends data backup and recovery offering to include mobile users

In this increasingly technological age, data is often one of a business’s most important assets and as such requires protection. For those working on the move, keeping their files safe is a challenge with less back up and recovery protection on offer.

To provide mobile users with complete data backup and recovery services, Scottish based Internet for Business (IFB) has invested £100k to expand its existing portfolio of services.

Graeme Gordon, operations director at IFB explains, “We’ve been providing standard data backup and recovery services for more than three years; protecting both our own and our clients’ data. We’re now in a position to offer a service which encompasses mobile users as well as office based personnel. Data from mobile, remote and home workers can be securely backed up and protected as easily as if the worker was based in the head office. This service is business critical and we’ve worked hard to be able to bring this increased offering to our clients.

“This development represents the ultimate in data backup services for servers, storage devices, desktops and workstations and laptops. We can provide this service irrespective of where the mobile user is using their laptop. It doesn’t matter whether they are using it at a wireless hotspot, in the office or at their home; we can make sure their data is backed up and protected.”

Graeme continues, “This forms part of a fully managed service which is really user friendly and simple to use. Additionally retrieving and recovering a file, or indeed a full server, can be carried out via our secure web based portal. This means that our clients’ information is available to them whenever and wherever they require it.”

The data backup service as a whole can have cost saving implications for businesses. Businesses are constantly looking for ways to improve performance and reduce costs. The IT business process is not immune to this. At a time when companies are producing increasing amounts of data it is more important than ever that this information is backed up and protected.

“Moving from an internally managed backup system which uses tapes or discs to an outsourced solution has several benefits in terms of saving time and money while providing added confidence regarding the security and availability of this critical information. We are able to offer this via our data centre or remotely across IFB provided network connections.”

Graeme concludes, “No-one likes to think that disaster might strike their IT systems but we’re all too aware that it can happen. Having a comprehensive disaster recovery plan in place which encompasses a backup and recovery service for all users is vital.”
