Industrial Action: Wed, Nov 30, 2011Aberdeenshire Council aims to keep disruption to its services to a minimum during expected national public sector industrial action on Wednesday, November 30. It is expected most services will be maintained throughout the day, although there may be some local disruption.
Priority will be given to essential services which are provided throughout the year, such as care for vulnerable people, and for public safety activities such as monitoring and treatment of roads as required.
As previously outlined, all Aberdeenshire schools will be closed to pupils. Teaching staff who are not participating in industrial action will be expected to attend their place of work.
There may be some disruption to leisure facilities. Customers are advised to visit the Aberdeenshire Council website at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/recreation/swimleisure or contact their local facility directly before travelling.
The leisure service has been working with customers who have booked community leisure facilities to advise whether they can proceed or will need to be rescheduled.
It is hoped most scheduled waste collections will continue as normal.
Anybody whose bin is not collected can either wait until the next scheduled uplift, or take waste to the nearest household waste and recycling centre for disposal.
Additional rubbish bags will be accepted on the next scheduled collection date, but only for those routes which have been affected.
While there is not expected to any significant effect to winter roads treatment, there may be some minor disruption to other road maintenance duties.
