Inspectahire Making Tracks For London EventAberdeen-based inspection company Inspectahire will showcase some of its services at a major UK rail industry exhibition in London this week as the company looks to increase its activity in the sector. Held in London’s Earls Court, Railtex 2011 runs from 14-16 June and is expected to attract over 8,000 rail industry professionals from around 40 countries, as well as 350 exhibitors displaying an extensive range of railway technology and services.
The three-day event is seen as a key opportunity for Inspectahire to highlight its remote visual inspection techniques to the rail and civil engineering sectors. The UK’s rail infrastructure is in the midst of £28.5billion, five-year investment programme which was announced by Network Rail in 2009. £10.8billion of this is to be spent replacing older parts of the nation’s network and Inspectahire’s services can be used to identify bridges and tunnels that require attention, thus ensuring that this investment is made effectively.
Cailean Forrester, managing director, said: “Civil engineering is one of the main industries of focus for Inspectahire and Railtex will provide us with a platform to give the rail industry an insight into our range of remote visual inspection services and void space laser scanning. These services can help to identify potential structural issues and, therefore, ensure that the industry’s investment is being efficiently targeted.
“We have completed a number rail infrastructure surveys including the Forth Rail Bridge and numerous rail tunnels, and are looking to continue to grow this. When you consider that many of today’s rail tunnels and bridges were constructed over 100 years ago, you begin to realise the importance of regularly inspecting these assets. Failure to understand the structure or integrity of such assets could lead to their catastrophic failure.”
