JOHNSTON CARMICHAEL TRIO RUN UP IMPRESSIVE CHARITY CASH TOTALA trio of accountants from leading Aberdeen-headquartered accountancy firm Johnston Carmichael have raised almost £15,000 for charity after completing the London Marathon at the weekend.
All cash raised by the three big hearted runners – the firm’s Chairman, Andrew Shepherd, Audit Senior, Richard Walker and Outsourcing Assistant, Sarah Anderson – will be donated to Johnston Carmichael’s chosen charity for the year, Cancer Research UK.
Andrew Shepherd led the firm’s contingent across the finishing line, completing the marathon, which is considered the largest fundraising event in the world, in three hours and 22 minutes, whilst Sarah Anderson recorded a time of four hours and 20 minutes and Richard Walker completed the route in four hours and 45 minutes.
Mr Shepherd commented: “We were thrilled to fly the Johnston Carmichael flag at the London Marathon. Contributing to worthy causes has always been at the heart of the firm’s operations and we’re extremely pleased to be able to add a further £14,994.20 to our cash pot for Cancer Research UK.
“Knowing that we raised this amount of cash for the charity makes the various aches and pains that we’re now suffering more than worthwhile.”
Johnston Carmichael has offices in Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh, Fraserburgh, Elgin, Glasgow, Forfar, Huntly, Inverurie and Perth, and currently employs more than 450 people throughout the country. Over the last seven years, Johnston Carmichael has demonstrated a major commitment to CSR and the communities within which it works, raising around £250,000 for good causes during that time.
