Key Appointment for Empire

Leading North-east HR and health & safety firm Empire has appointed a key member of staff to lead their legal division.

Craig Bennison, who is a qualified barrister, has joined the company as Head of Litigation to support their continuing growth in this area. Empire currently employs 24 members of staff at their headquarters in Aberdeen.

Mr Bennison has over 14 years experience in employment, company and commercial law. The Glasgow born barrister has specialised in employment and discrimination law working for major consultancy firms across the country. The former military policeman qualified as a Barrister in 1997 from the bar in London and also graduated with a Masters Degree in employment law and industrial relations at the University of Leicester in 2009. He is currently studying for his PhD in law.

He said: “As part of my new role I will be responsible for advising Empire clients on employment law best practice and representing clients at employment tribunals, as well as offering an approachable litigation service. I aim to implement and develop a more dynamic and all round better commercial solution which will be cost effective for the clients.”

Empire Operations Director, Peter-Jon Chalmers, said: “Craig will bring more depth to the Empire litigation service, he is well respected in his field and is an excellent addition to the team. Craig is a team player and has really adjusted well within the team.”

The married father of three enjoys show jumping in his spare time and has seven horses at his family home in Moffat in Dumfries & Galloway.
