Key appointments strengthen Magma Products’ design capability for oil and gas projects

Oil and gas engineering consultancy Magma Products has made three significant appointments to bolster its design capabilities as it continues to expand.

Experienced oil and gas engineers – Shane Knight, Andy Smith and Bruce Roberts – have joined the Aberdeen-based company that provides front end engineering design, detail design, construction support, commissioning and start-up.

Instrument engineer Shane Knight, 37, joins Magma Products after an impressive track record with international companies, most recently on topside and FPSO projects in the North Sea and West Africa.

Instrument engineer Andy Smith, 41, has been a key member of teams delivering projects in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, South-east Asia and the Middle East and has also worked for a number of international companies during his career in the oil and gas industry. He worked for BP for 10 years and has also worked in the nuclear, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Process engineer Bruce Roberts, 35, who joins Magma Products after several years with international companies, has delivered solutions on design and commissioning projects in the North Sea and North Africa.

As well as providing engineering solutions in the North Sea, Magma Products has developed a new technology-led system to enhance safety and efficiency during key phases of offshore oil and gas production projects.

The Completion Hand Over Management System (CHOMS) is a web-based tool designed to capture all completion and certification data for all parts of any individual project.

The multi-purpose system, with a project management ‘dashboard’ as its centrepiece, generates improved visibility and accessibility of relevant data during the complex commissioning and start-up phases.

Magma Products has worked with operators on a range of projects including front end engineering, detail design, construction, completions, well testing, subsea and surface production facilities, platform modifications and upgrades, production optimisation, enhanced oil recovery, onshore processing and commissioning and start-up.
