LAST CHANCE TO VISIT CANCER SUPPORT CHARITY AS IT OPENS THE DOORS OF CURRENT HEADQUARTERSMembers of the public are being given the opportunity to visit a cancer support charity’s base during the final days of a programme of open events. Aberdeen-headquartered CLAN Cancer Support is opening the doors of its Caroline Place centre on Wednesday (August 17) between 5.00 – 8.00pm to give supporters the chance to visit CLAN House before the charity moves to its new base on Aberdeen’s Westburn Road in the autumn.
The centre will also host its final open house event on Saturday, August 20, between 1.00 – 4.00pm.
Two previous open events have already been held at the centre during July and proved to be very popular with clients, supporters, volunteers and staff, both past and present.
During the sessions visitors were given the chance to tour the centre, viewing information and photographs showing how the former Rosemount Church was converted into CLAN’s current centre as well as plans and photographs of the new centre.
Debbie Thomson, CLAN Chief Executive, said: “The first two events proved to be very popular with a diverse range of people visiting CLAN House for many different reasons.
“Some visitors came along for the chance to see round the whole building as they had previously only visited for a coffee morning or used our services in one particular area. They personally found it fascinating to see exactly how much goes on within our building.
“CLAN House has been a special place for so many people over the last 15 years, and the move will be an emotional time for many and we are delighted to be able to give members of the community the chance to have a reflective moment and share those important memories with us.
“Volunteers will also be on hand during the events, and some quiet areas will be available to anyone who wishes to have a reflective moment. And of course, no CLAN House event would be complete without tea, coffee and biscuits.”
CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
