LAST COFFEE MORNING FOR CANCER SUPPORT CENTRE

Organisers of a popular support group are gearing up for their final coffee morning in the current building as CLAN Cancer Support prepares to move to its new centre.

Having been a popular monthly event at CLAN House in Aberdeen for more than fourteen years, the dedicated group of volunteers which run the group are serving up their final cuppas on Wednesday (October 05) before welcoming people to the charity’s new building.

Longstanding volunteer, Hazel Cowie, from Newmachar, first became involved in the mid 1990s after hearing about CLAN at her local guild. She wanted to help and was delighted that her baking skills could be put to such good use.

Sandra Allen, of Aberdeen, has been coordinating the coffee mornings for the past eleven years after visiting CLAN House to hand over a donation collected in lieu of gifts for her 40th wedding anniversary.

She said: “When I toured CLAN House in 2000 we were extremely impressed by the work of the charity. I asked what I could do to help and the rest, as they say is history.

“I thoroughly enjoy the friendship and atmosphere at CLAN’s coffee mornings and I am very much looking forward to welcoming friends old and new to the new centre where our coffee mornings will continue to be held on the first Wednesday of each month.”

The coffee morning ladies would be delighted to hear from anyone who might be able interested in helping the group. Please contact CLAN’s volunteer manager on 01224 647000.
