Local Doric Festival event the Deeside Doric Dirl was a sell out event on Thursday 13th October 2011.

The Doric Festival which is in its 17th year in 2011 ran from 30th September 2011 to Sunday 16th October and events happen all over the North East to celebrate the language, songs, music and traditions of the North East. The Deeside Doric Dirl was just one of these events.

Deeside Activity Park is host to this event and there was a sell out crowd of over 160 guests enjoying the entertainment and the Cairnton Aberdeen Angus Stovies served at the interval.

‘It was grand to see so many people out enjoying the event, and wonderful to have world renowned fiddler Paul Anderson back with us at the Dirl as our headline act. We had the old favourite entertainers, such as Haldie Winton, Rob McCombie and Jim Riddoch but some new entertainers for this year the Aurora Scottish Country Dancers, Shona Donaldson and Kerry Riddoch , said Ken Howie, Owner of Deeside Activity Park who MC’d the evening and even persuaded his young daughter to tell a J C Milne poem on the night!

The Deeside Doric Dirl is only one of the special events that happen at Deeside Activity Park, their bonfire and fireworks night on 6th November at 5 pm and The Burn’s Lunch on 22nd January 2011 at 12.30 pm, where you will get the chance to enjoy some of the entertainment from the Dirl again.
