Local Lads Tackle the West Highland Way

On the 13th of June 2011 local lads Graeme Mitchell, Neil Mitchell and Paul Gordon will tackle the West Highland Way by mountain bike to benefit the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.

One of Graeme’s three year-old twin daughters, Abigail, was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. As Graeme’s family, as well as other families in and around Aberdeen, have received tremendous support from the Scottish Spina Bifida Association, the lads have chosen this opportunity to raise funds for the SSBA as well as raising local awareness of the charity. The 96 mile West Highland Way is Scotland’s first official long distance route running between Milngavie and Fort William. Terrain on the route ranges from lowland moors, dense woodland and rolling hills to mountainous regions.  The lads will undertake the route over 3 days in June using bunkhouses for overnight accommodation. Everything that they need that is not provided by the bunkhouses will be carried by them in rucksacks. The lads would like to thank all the individuals and especially the following companies who have sponsored their fund raising efforts for this worthy cause:

Positioneering Limited

Wood Group PSN

Wood Group

Andrew Gordon Butchery and Fine Foods
