LOCAL MD SPENDS BIRTHDAY IN USA PACKING AID BOXES FOR CHARITY

The boss of an Aberdeen IT company swapped champagne and cake for voluntary work in the USA as he spent his 28th birthday on a charity mission.

Andrew Stuart, who is managing director of Clark Integrated Technologies, spent time in America with the Mission Arlington charity, which provides services to the needy in Arlington, Texas.

The initiative was spearheaded by the HTG (Heartland Technology Group) Peer Groups, a worldwide network of IT solution provider executives formed to collaborate and share business best practices, of which Andrew is a member.

Andrew was involved in a visit to the mission to sort and package food for distribution as well as organising clothing which will be distributed to people in the community.

As well as spending time doing charitable work, Andrew was in Texas for the All HTG summit, which included workshops, clinics and presentations covering business and technology issues that face IT solution providers.

The event also provided attendees with opportunities to network and consult with each other to build relationships and solve common challenges.

He said it was a very gratifying way to spend his birthday, and a great way to meet other IT professionals from around the globe while giving something back to the deprived.

“When I heard about the plans to help the Mission Arlington charity I jumped at chance to be involved with something so worthwhile, and was able to couple this with a business trip at the same time.

“It was my 28th birthday while I was over there and I found it very rewarding to be helping others on this occasion, rather than the day being all about me.

“Mission Arlington is involved in some great work in Texas and I was delighted to have been able to lend them my support on my trip to the States, and hopefully I’ll be able to return and help them in the future.”

Clark Integrated Technologies, formerly Clark Computers, was founded in 1991 by then farmer Graham Clark. The business originally provided IT solutions to the agriculture industry and then moved into providing IT support to small and medium businesses across all industry sectors.
