Local Transport Survey prize winners announced

Approximately 500 north-east residents have expressed their views on transport provision in the area during a consultation exercise conducted by Aberdeenshire Council.

During March and April the authority launched an online survey to gather residents’ views on current transport services in Aberdeenshire and future opportunities that the new Local Transport Strategy should consider.

A total of four £50 shopping vouchers were up for grabs for those who completed the survey and the winners were:

• Lynn Rowland (Boddam)

• Sarah Norris (Aberchirder)

• Andrew Hickman (Laurencekirk)

• Julie Craigs (Rothienorman)

Chairman of Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Peter Argyle, thanked respondents for their input to the consultation and outlined the process that will be taken going forward with the development of the Strategy.

He said: “The Local Transport Strategy is the means by which the council sets out the strategic future of transport in Aberdeenshire and is therefore a vitally important process.

“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete the questionnaire and also assure consultees that their comments, which are currently being analysed, will be taken into account in the development of a draft Local Transport Strategy.”

Vice-chair of the committee, Cllr Jill Webster, added: “I was particularly pleased to hear that substantial numbers of those who completed the survey outlined their willingness to be kept involved in the process going forward.

“A number of position papers on specific transport subjects are currently being prepared and those respondents who stated they would like to be kept informed will be contacted within the next couple of months for further input on these.”

Although the survey has now closed, residents keen to be involved in the process and provide their views on a number of the 'position papers' which are currently being prepared can still register their interest by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/positionpapers.
