MALMAISON ABERDEEN SET TO HOST ‘BIG MAL DOG WALK’

Dog friendly hotel Malmaison Aberdeen has joined forces with the Kennel Club to host ‘The Big Mal Dog Walk’ on Sunday 31 July where members of the public and their happy hounds are invited to take part in a big dog walk from the Aberdeen hotel to Hazlehead Park.

The event has been organised to help raise much needed funds for the Kennel Club Charitable Trust with the £5 entry fee being donated to the charity.

Starting at the hotel at 11am, the boutique hotel will serve complimentary refreshments of hot drinks and bacon rolls before setting off on the two mile walk.  On arrival at Hazlehead Park a photographer will be on hand to take portrait shots of dog owners and their four legged friends.  Non alcoholic cocktails and canapés will be served to refuel the walkers.

The Malmaison Group welcomes dogs to stay in all of their hotels and provides pampered pups with a bed and bowl - so every dog can have its day.  There are around 8 million dogs in the UK and Aberdeen’s most popular breed is the Labrador Retriever closely followed by the Cocker Spaniel and the West Highland White Terrier.

To celebrate ‘The Big Mal Dog Walk’, and with National Dog Day coming soon on Friday 26 August, Malmaison is launching a special offer just for dog owners.  The ‘Great Mate Rate’ will be available from Sunday 31 July and dog owners can avail of a great doggie deal on Fridays and Sundays at just £75 per room for bed and breakfast.

Andy Roger, General Manager Malmaison Aberdeen, said: “At Malmaison we are happy to open our doors to ‘man’s best friend’ and ‘The Big Mal Dog Walk’ is guaranteed to be lots of fun for all the family.  With National Dog Day just around the corner we are celebrating our four legged friends and helping to raise funds for the Kennel Club Charitable Trust.  It’s a great opportunity to get together with other dog owners and their pets.  Some of our members of staff will be leading the way with their own dogs and we look forward to welcoming lots more on the day.”

If you think Malmaison is worthy of the nation’s paw of approval as one of the UK’s best dog-friendly businesses visit www.openfordogs.org.uk to nominate them as part of the Kennel Club's Open for Dogs campaign and the 2011 Awards.
