Overview

Whatever kind of management or leadership role you have it is inevitable that you will be required to manage various stakeholders both internal and external to your organisation.

Building effective relationships with your stakeholders is a worthwhile investment since it can on occasions be the key factor in achieving success.

Aims

The aims of this one day learning event are :-

  • to equip participants with some tools which will help them to identify stakeholders and explore the characteristics of groups and individual stakeholders
  • to explore different ways of managing stakeholders
  • to use a work based example to practise using the tools and techniques

Outcomes

At the end of the course participants will

  • understand the importance of managing stakeholders
  • be able to identify their stakeholders and determine the level of importance they should attach to individual or groups of stakeholders
  • be equipped with some skills, tools and techniques which they can use in their work setting

Format

The format of the course will be interactive, focussing on the specific situations which the participants wish to address. The course will take an “appreciative” approach focusing on how to ensure stakeholders are managed in a way which will support achieving successful outcomes. Key areas which will be explored will be

  • what constitutes a stakeholder and what their concerns and needs may be
  • how to determine what level of investment is worthwhile for specific pieces of work
  • how to create a climate of trust and credibility so that stakeholders have confidence

Delivery mode

This course is designed as a one day programme. However to provide greater depth of learning and skill development it can be enhanced by the addition of a one to one session for each participant and/or a subsequent one day or half day session for participants to reflect on their progress and develop further.

This programme is suitable for any manager who line manages staff to deliver a service or to produce goods. It is appropriate for managers at any level who are keen to achieve success.

She has many years experience of leading projects and managing stakeholders herself as well as delivering development programmes for others.
