Marischal College closing early due to water supply problemsMarischal College will be closed from 4pm today as a result of water supply problems in the building. The customer service centre will be closed to new customers from 4pm.
The problem with the water supply to the upper floors has been caused by a malfunctioning transducer in the electrical controls for the booster pump which regulates the water flow.
It was thought that a replacement part could be sourced locally, but the council was informed at lunchtime that it would have to be sent by courier from Essex and would not arrive until tomorrow [Wednesday] morning.
The mains supply enters the building at ground floor level and the supply to the ground and lower ground floors was unaffected. Staff on upper floors were using the lower floor facilities, but the demand for water on the lower levels through the day has been such that by late afternoon the mains system was struggling to keep up.
Marischal College will not re-open to the public until 10.30am.
We apologise for any disruption. 85 views
