Marks & Clerk opens 'down under' in Melbourne, Australia

Marks & Clerk is pleased to announce the opening of its office in Melbourne.

Marks & Clerk has Scottish offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen and, with this new addition, the firm now has 5 offices in the Asia-Pacific Region - China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Australia – bringing the total number of offices worldwide to 18.

The Asia-Pacific Region is a key intellectual property market. Growing the firm’s resources and expertise in the region is important in helping to enhance our service offering to clients.

The Principals of the Melbourne office are former members of Marks & Clerk’s teams in Singapore and Hong Kong and, as natives of Melbourne, are both Australian-qualified. Keith Callinan, patents, and John Hawker, trade marks, both have over 20 years’ experience in IP practice.

The Melbourne team will work closely with their Marks & Clerk colleagues across Asia, Europe and North America to offer patent, trade mark and registered design services across a wide range of technologies & commercial sectors. These include mechanical engineering, electronics, computing, automotive, oil and gas, food and beverages, industrial chemicals, pharma and life sciences.

Marks & Clerk Australia will also be assisted by the Melbourne patent practice of Jones Tulloch. The principals of Jones Tulloch, Paul Jones and Debra Tulloch, have considerable experience in the areas of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, agroscience, veterinary, biotechnology, Plant Breeders Rights, and related areas. They will provide on-the-ground support to Marks & Clerk Australia in these areas.
