Business Services Network Sector Survey 2012

As part of our tailored services, the Chamber is pleased to publish a series of surveys to provide sector specific research on businesses in North-east Scotland.

Northern Star Business Awards

The Overall Global Business of the Year Award went to qedi which has achieved remarkable success in the oil & gas industry, trebling its workforce over the last three years and achieving a 35% annual growth rate over the past six years. The Overall Medium Business of the Year was AMC Engineering. The Findon-based company has seen turnover increase from £1.4million to £14 million since 2004 and staff numbers rising from 12 to 80.

Ellon-based LFH Engineering Ltd picked up the Overall Small Business of the Year Award. Launched in March 2010 following a management buyout, the company has enjoyed a remarkable first 18 months in business.

Also proving that you don't have to be a big company to become a Northern Star, the newly introduced Best Campaign Award was won by Limetree (formerly Fruition), a small marketing consultancy which has around a third of its clients based in the Third Sector. Its winning campaign helped environmental charity Aberdeen Forward raise its profile and increase its annual turnover by more than 130% in one year.

The Chamber acts as the voice of business for its 1,200+ members, lobbying on issues which impact on them. Policy is developed in conjunction with our Policy Council, an elected group of 27 members representing all sizes and sectors of our membership. The Chamber is also supported in its policy formulation process by our Virtual Policy Groups. The groups comprise members of the Chamber's Board and Council and representatives of the wider Chamber membership. Sector Survey

Business Services Survey- Coming soon

The Business Services Survey 2012 will provide a general profile of businesses in the finance sector in North-east Scotland. The survey is specifically aimed to capture current performance, present and future issues concerning the sector, and the priorities and strategic focus of the industry going forward. It will provide useful market intelligence to sector stakeholders for decision making, effective policy lobbying and representation and also serve as a document for future reference and comparison.

The Policy and Communications unit is also responsible for providing a communication service on behalf of the Chamber including the Business Bulletin magazine and all media related activity. The unit also looks after the Chamber's Public Affairs activities, and liases with politicians and senior officials at all levels.
