Lobbying on Business Rates
AGCC has lobbied heavily on the issue of Non-Domestic Rates and its impact on businesses. Businesses must be insulated from the worst excesses of revaluation increases and legislation must be put in place to restore transitional relief.

Retail Survey 2013
Aberdeen Inspired identified a significant gap in the availability of meaningful data in the retail sector in Aberdeen and also had a strong desire to create a baseline dataset against which it could measure its activities.
With the support of retailers across the North-east but particularly in the City Centre this research begins to fill this information gap. The research has also been able to paint a picture of the performance of the sector and some of the challenges and opportunities it will face in the future.
The sector appears to have benefited from some of the success of the local economy. However, margins are being squeezed and 63% of businesses expect costs to continue to increase with 46% forecasting an associated rise in sales. However, retailers in the North-east still appear to be in a stronger position than is reported in the rest of the UK.
