Membership Awards

Chamber marks membership

long-service-awardsSix of Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s (AGCC) longest standing members had their involvement with the organisation recognised at a special ceremony in the Town House last night.

In a new initiative, businesses which have been members continuously for 15, 20, 25 and 30 years will have their contribution acknowledged at a series of events throughout the year.

Lord Provost Peter Stephen presented Gold Membership Awards (25 years) to Aberdeen Appointments Agency and Weber Shandwick; Silver Awards (20 years) to Aberdeenshire Council, Schoolhill Hydraulic Engineering and Murgitroyd & Company and a Bronze Award (15 years) to Equiworld Club.

Chamber Chief Executive Bob Collier said: “As an organisation, our mission statement is to put our members at the heart of the Chamber; the Chamber at the heart of a strong and sustainable economy in the City and Shire and our region at the heart of a prosperous country so we wanted to acknowledge those members who have supported and worked with the Chamber for many years.

“It is their involvement as well as the involvement of all our other members which has made us into a leading membership organisation in North-east Scotland so it only right that we draw attention to the enormous contribution they have made to us and to the business community in this region.”

Four Chamber members will be presented with Platinum Membership Awards (30 years) as part of the opening event celebrations when AGCC moves to its new custom built premises in The Hub at the Science & Energy Park at the Bridge of Don in July.

Chamber Network

The Chamber Network

Member's needs are at the heart of the work of the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC). Our mission is to put Members at the heart of the Chamber; the Chamber at the heart of the region and the region at the heart of a prosperous country. AGCC has agreed to the formation of a range of sector-interest groups from within our membership of more than 1,200 organisations. The main purpose of this is to ensure that we target specific needs with increasingly tailored services and benefits.

We have already started the Tourism Network and the Transport Network will be developed on the back of our transport campaign. We launched the Business Services Network, building on our work lobbying on business rates and the Energy Network , building on our work with the Oil and Gas Survey and focusing on the potential business for members from ‘renewables’. Other networks were launched later in the year according to member demand including the Food & Drink Network and Third Sector Network and eventually we expect to have in place up to 12 sector networks which work for members.

The membership team at AGCC recognises that the needs of a member hotel in Banchory are different from a member subsea contractor in Portlethen and the needs of a member fish processor in Fraserburgh are different from a member solicitor in Aberdeen so we feel that members will find that these new Chamber Networks help them to get the most from their membership of the Chamber.
