Met Office warns of freezing temperatures

The Met Office has predicted a weekend of freezing temperatures and issued a severe weather warning for ice in the North-east

The air temperature is predicted to fall to below zero at stages throughout the weekend and the roads temperature even lower. Motorists are warned not to be fooled by the temperature sensors in their vehicles, which give the air temperature, not the road surface temperature.

Motorists and pedestrians should take extra care when out and about.

Aberdeen City Council's roads teams will continue carrying out winter maintenance operations. The council has plenty salt in stock.
