MORAY CHAMBER MASTER CHEF LAUNCHES NEW INITIATIVE AT BASE

Moray Chamber of Commerce (Friday 19th February) launched Chef Culinaire. This group will provide an opportunity for chefs, restaurateurs and food producers from Moray and the north east to get together to discuss common issues, network and share learning.

Speaking from RAF Kinloss where the group enjoyed a visit behind the scenes to the Officers Mess Chamber Chief Executive Lesley Ann Parker said, “I am delighted that member company The Full Range headed by Chef George McIvor has agreed to lead this initiative which has come about as a result of our Chamber visit to Zwolle Culinair in the Netherlands last September. Zwolle offered Moray to represent Scotland at their event which involves running a restaurant over a weekend to showcase Scottish produce, cooked by Scottish chefs. I see this as the ultimate aim of Chef Culinaire to represent Scotland, and the north east in particular at this prestigious event.”

George McIvor, a fellow and former Chairman of Master Chefs of Great Britain is renowned for his unique culinary and purchasing consultancy. He has over 35 years experience in the food & hospitality business. Originally from Caithness and now Fochabers based George is responsible for the training of many of today’s emerging chefs, working closely with many Scottish food producers and restaurants. He commented” Chef Culinaire gives us a wonderful opportunity as it is not often that chefs get together locally and speak to one another at events such as these. I hope to plan another soon specifically for the needs of this group.

The Chef Culinaire group of 15 joined Moray Chamber of Commerce members for their Business Lunch in the Officers Mess prepared by Flight Sargeant Pete Reid and his team of chefs. Speakers were David Cunningham from The ARCHIE Foundation and Wing Commander Antony McCord.

Chefs wishing to be part of Chef Culinaire should contact info@moraychamber.co.uk or telephone 01340 881226.

Glenfarclas Distillery will be the venue for the next Moray Chamber of Commerce event, a whisky themed supper with guest speaker Dr Imogen Reid of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, to be held on Friday 16th April. Dr Reid has been working on the Policy Paper for the whisky industry which is part of the Chamber Business Manifesto and will discuss the topics and issues the industry raised, both at a local and national level. Tickets priced £50 for members and £65 for non members are now available.
