NEW KID ON THE BLOCK AT ABERDEEN ARTS CENTRE

ABERDEEN Arts Centre has a new kid on the block – tutor Scott Armstrong – who is returning to his native Aberdeenshire roots to share his musical theatre experience with 6 to 10 year olds on Saturday mornings from 11.30am – 12.30pm.

Following the already successful drama session formula, Scott will bring his own touch to this particular Saturday Drama Workshop thanks to his background in music and choreography and his specialisation in musical theatre.

This class is the combination of the 10.30am class for 6 to 8s with the 11.30am class for 8 to 10s to give a wider age mix and, therefore, increased scope for performance as from this Saturday (May 7).

And, thanks to opportunities numbers will present, Scott is also hoping to work with the group to put together a professional piece during Aberdeen Arts Centre’s Summer Carnival – possibly with Amy Lennox a local girl made good in “Legally Blonde West End”.

Also kick-starting at the Centre as of mid-May are afternoon African drumming and percussion workshops with David aka “Bongo Dave” from Afriquetone. Apart from being a fabulous musician and tutor, he is actively involved with multi-ethnic activities.

All our other Saturday Drama Workshops will be running as usual with Barry Donaldson specialising in the under 5s and Marie Skene continuing with the older children on Saturday afternoons with 9 to 12 year olds and the Centre’s award winning devised theatre group ACT 2 .
