New Lawyer joins expanding Bond Pearce Oil and Gas teamLaura Petrie is the latest addition to the growing oil and gas team in the Aberdeen office of national legal firm Bond Pearce. Laura, originally from Inverness, studied at the University of Aberdeen before returning to her home city with Ledingham Chalmers to complete her training and during that period specialised in corporate work. In 2006 she joined Stronachs in Aberdeen as a corporate solicitor where her role included work in the oil and gas sector.
She switched to corporate finance including oil and gas services work when she joined Shepherd and Wedderburn and continued with that, together with upstream oil and gas work, when the some of the firm’s team transferred to Paul & Williamsons in early 2011.
She has advised both banks and borrowers on development and equity funding, as well as advising on general corporate matters including acquisitions, investment, MBOs and general corporate governance. She has also run training sessions on contracting issues, corporate insolvency, and directors’ duties.
Laura Petrie said: “I moved to Bond Pearce because I enjoy being part of a close team and because I enjoy the type of oil and gas work I shall be involved in – primarily project-led work. “While I was at Shepherd & Wedderburn, I particularly enjoyed being involved in the business development side of things - getting out there networking and selling the firm to potential clients. Joining Bond Pearce will give me that scope again.” Laura is a former president of the Aberdeen Businesswomen’s Network, now Connect 925, and was a awarded life membership for the work she did for the organisation in which she is still involved. She has a 16 month old son Ronin.
Finlay Crossan, Oil and Gas Partner at Bond Pearce, said: “The Aberdeen office is going from strength to strength and Laura is a tremendous addition to the team which we continue to grow and we have exciting plans for the future. “Our success in bringing in the right people has enabled us to maintain the reputation for the highest quality which Bond Pearce has earned nationally. “Laura is joining a busy team. Our work in oil and gas developments on both the production and supply chain sides continues to grow in the UK and international markets and we are also increasing our business in Aberdeen in the wider range of corporate and commercial legal services in oil and renewable energy sectors along with our specialist employment, immigration and commercial property services.” 140 views
