New PGA trainees sponsored by Kings Links Golf CentreA duo of new PGA trainee professional golfers will be sponsored by Kings Links Golf Centre in Aberdeen underlining the continued commitment by the centre to support the North east’s young golfing talent. Chris Law and Ryan Penny, both talented golfers from the North east, will now take a three year foundation degree in Professional Golf Studies, accredited by the University of Birmingham.
The degree involves working through study guides, assignments, and residential placements at the National Training Academy at the PGA's Belfry headquarters. They will be examined regularly and gain coaching awards.
These two young golfing enthusiasts join an already impressive stable of five fully qualified PGA professionals that offer lessons at Kings Links Golf Centre; Paul Girvan, Steve Craig, Gary Lochhead , Katie Thomson and Scott Henderson.
Paul Girvan, director of golf said: “We are committed to providing support to up and coming golfing talent from the North east and our sponsorship of these trainee PGA professionals is part of that initiative. It is important that we invest in the region’s best golfing talent as these young guys act as role models to younger players in the future. We are delighted to be able to offer financial and training support while Chris and Ryan complete their studies.”
The sponsorship of Chris and Ryan is part of a drive by Kings Links Golf Centre to continue to create a unique golfing ‘centre of excellence’ in the North east. Kings Links Golf Centre also continues to sponsor Aberdeen golfer Scott Henderson on the Tartan Tour underlining its commitment to the region’s more experienced players.
Craig Group also continues to sponsor Aberdeen PGA European Tour Pro Richie Ramsay. Richie was ranked 40th in top 60 in Europe in the Race to Dubai last year following his win at the South African Open championship in 2010.
As the largest independent Golf Centre in the North east of Scotland, the Craig Group owned Kings Links Golf Centre boasts a 56 bay floodlit driving range and an award winning 3000 sq ft superstore.
The centre continues to attract thousands of golfers each year looking to take advantage of the PGA professional instructors on hand to give expert advice on the game. Lessons are delivered from the recently refurbished teaching facilities including two fully equipped heated studios both installed with the latest swing analysis and custom club fitting service.
