A Feast for the Senses

A feast for the senses was the achievement of the staff at the recent Grampian Food Forum Dining Club held at Gordon Castle Restaurant near Fochabers on 29 June.

Over 50 guests enjoyed the welcome of Gordon Castle Scotland’s own premium brand gin and had the opportunity to mingle before being taken on a sensory journey with an ambitious five course taster menu.

The culinary dishes were expertly crafted by Executive Head Chef, John Morrison and his kitchen brigade. Each course took provenance to the fore with much of the produce coming directly from the estate including venison, with lavender from the walled garden being used in the vanilla and lavender fudge served with coffee.

First time attendee, Guy Macpherson-Grant, partner at Ballindalloch Distillery commented “I have thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the exquisite food produced by John, and the excellent opportunity to meet with other North East based business people driving forward our the local food and drink industry.”

Following dinner, owner Angus Gordon Lennox, accompanied by his wife Zara shared some of the stories on the development of the Gordon Castle Scotland brand since opening their doors to the public.

Henry Angus, Commercial Director at Associated Seafoods Ltd and Grampian Food Forum Steering Group member concluded the event by thanking the team at Gordon Castle Restaurant.
