The generous nature of the North-east has been underlined with a donation of over £6,500 to local charities from a leading business awards event.

Attendees at the Northern Star Business Awards put their hands in their own pockets to raise £6,530 for five local charities.

Aberdeen FC Community Trust, DA (Drugs & Alcohol) Satrosphere, The ARCHIE Foundation and the breadmaker are to benefit from the donations.

Organised by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce and now in their twelfth year, the Northern Star Business Awards recognise companies in the North-east for their exceptional accomplishments across a range of fields from energy to innovation, people development to customer service.

Thirty-nine finalists joined the 750 guests at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre for the annual accolades for successful businesses across the region.

Balmoral’s chairman and managing director James Milne CBE was handed a lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the region, and CHC Helicopter West North Sea received the Overall Business of the Year award.
