The Grasshopper Pass is a partnership led by bus operators and administered by Aberdeenshire Council, which is also supported by Aberdeen City Council and Nestrans.

It provides hassle-free bus travel to customers throughout Aberdeen City and Shire as only one ticket is needed to travel on local bus services provided by any operator.

What’s more, the ticket is great value for money as it is cheaper than buying multiple tickets for journeys involving more than one bus operator.

For example, a customer traveling into Aberdeen from Zone 2 (Westhill, Portlethen or Balmedie) on a Stagecoach bus who wishes to travel on First buses within the city can buy a weekly Grasshopper Pass for £22.00, compared to paying £35.75 to buy two weekly tickets for the individual operators.

A Zone 2 day Grasshopper Pass is currently only £6.80 compared to the combined cost of two individual operator day tickets at £9.85.

It is available on local bus services operated by Bain’s Coaches, Central Coaches, Deveron Coaches, First Aberdeen, J&M Burns, Kininmonth Cabs, Mid Deeside Ltd, Nicoll Coaches, Stagecoach North Scotland, Stagecoach Strathtay and TJ Travel.

A spokesperson for the Grasshopper Management Committee said: "The Grasshopper Pass is an exciting and successful partnership between private bus operators and the two local authorities.

“It is one of many investments made by all the partners to improve the availability of bus travel and one that all stakeholders wholeheartedly support."

Grasshopper passes can be bought direct from your bus driver. For further information and details on eligible bus services see: www.grasshopperpass.com
