A key UK Government minister with close links to the UK oil and gas sector is one of the leading speakers at Oil & Gas UK’s flagship conference taking place next month.

Lord Dunlop - one of a group of senior Government ministers who meet regularly with industry and the Oil and Gas Authority at the MER UK Forum to discuss how to maximise economic recovery from the UK Continental Shelf - is speaking at a plenary session at the June 14 and 15 event, subject to parliamentary commitments.

Also instrumental in negotiating the City Region Deals for Aberdeen and Inverness on behalf of the UK Government, Lord Dunlop - who is Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Scotland – is expected to tell delegates about the Government’s vision for the future of the North Sea and the regional economic hubs it supports.

Deirdre Michie, chief executive for Oil & Gas UK, said: “This is an important conference for our industry and I am delighted Lord Dunlop, who is very supportive of our sector, can attend. We look forward to hearing his views on the coming years for North Sea oil and gas which still has a great many opportunities to look forward to.”

The UK Oil and Gas Industry Open for Business conference – taking place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre - will explore prospects for the UK to attract investment, deliver exploration, develop new technology and grow a significant business in exporting the North Sea’s world-leading goods and services.
