Robert Gordon University (RGU) will hold a two-day event this summer for those who are interested in a career in nursing and want to start their studies this year.
The free event will be held on Tuesday, June 28 and Wednesday, June 29 and is for those who are interested in the university’s adult nursing and mental health nursing courses which start in September 2016.
Also aimed at those who are interested in a career change in to nursing, the event will be hosted at the university’s Faculty of Health and Social Care building on Tuesday, June 28, followed by visits to NHS Grampian sites the next day.
Alison McLennan, head of student experience at RGU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, said: "The event is an exciting opportunity for those, who although they haven’t yet applied, are eligible to make a late application to UCAS to help make an informed choice on a career in nursing.
“It is targeted at those who already meet the academic qualifications for entry in to our BNursing course which starts in September 2016, specifically for applicants wishing to go in to adult nursing or mental health nursing.
“The School has built an outstanding reputation for producing patient focused, capable and highly employable graduates who have the skills and professionalism required to succeed throughout their careers.”
The event will highlight nursing career options and provide each attendee with:
- Awareness of contemporary adult and mental health nursing
- Awareness of RGU’s BNursing programme and university facilities – including the purpose built Clinical Skills Area
- Information on the UCAS application and interview process and other conditions for nursing commencing September 2016
- An opportunity to meet and discuss the course with nurses who work in either the university or clinical environment
- An opportunity to visit relevant NHS Grampian settings
Interest in the event is expected to be high and early registration is encouraged before the deadline of Friday, May 30.
