Robert Gordon University (RGU) is launching a new pick ‘n’ mix engineering programme which will allow students to create their own bespoke learning package.

The university, which has an international reputation for focused and relevant engagement with the oil and gas industry, is launching the Professional Engineering Programme in time for the next academic year.

The distance learning programme, which is aimed at engineers currently working in the energy industry, gives students the opportunity to choose from any of its current modules run by the School of Engineering.

They can undertake individual modules to support their career progression, ranging from Asset Life Cycle Analysis to Drilling Technology and Offshore Renewable Energy Conversion, or work towards a Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters award in Engineering.

RGU’s School of Engineering Learning Enhancement Co-ordinator, Jo-Anne Tait, said: “The Professional Engineering Programme gives students complete autonomy over the subjects that they choose and the level of award that they study towards, whether they want to complete just one module or gradually work towards a Masters degree.

“We believe that this approach will give energy professionals the chance to broaden and deepen their knowledge and understanding of a variety of engineering-based facets of the industry and to support their career development and progression.”
