The Chester Hotel swings into action for North-east charity

Aberdeen’s award-winning The Chester Hotel has confirmed its sponsorship for Friends of ANCHOR’s Gala Golf Event next summer by supporting the dinner for the second year running.

Graham and Gillian Wood, owners of The Chester Hotel, met with Friends of ANCHOR’s Chairman Jim Milne at the Gala Dinner venue for the announcement today and official launch of next year’s Gala Golf Event.

Graham Wood, owner of The Chester Hotel says: “We’re really delighted to be involved once again with Friends of ANCHOR in hosting this noteworthy dinner event. Through the ANCHOR Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, essential support, treatment and care is provided for those with cancer in the North-east, as well as the cancer research carried out at the University of Aberdeen. We’re very proud to help in this way and support these vital activities.”

Friends of ANCHOR’s Gala Golf Event 2016 is set to take place on Friday 10th June 2016. Following the dinner, The Chester Hotel’s IX Bar area will be turned into a late night piano lounge for the golf guests to enjoy.

James S Milne CBE, Friends of ANCHOR Chairman says: “At a time when the industry is going through significant challenges, the news of the sponsorship from The Chester Hotel boldly demonstrates the business sector’s admirable commitment to continuing its crucial support of the charity sector.

“We don’t, by any means, take that financial support for granted and as a charity we are indebted to businesses like The Chester Hotel who continue to partner with us to help continue the work of Friends of ANCHOR for North-east cancer and haematology patients.”

This year’s Gala Golf tournament raised over £75,000 for Friends of ANCHOR. The 2015 event achieved the highest total raised to date with all the proceeds invested into clinical care, research and wellbeing support at the ANCHOR Unit.
