Your chance to be part of the live STV Appeal show in Aberdeen next month.

Tickets are now on sale for Aberdeen's STV Appeal fundraising night featuring top local bands and singing newsreaders.

The event, being hosted at the Lemon Tree, will be form part of the STV Appeal programme which is being broadcast live to the nation on Friday, September 7.

Last year's STV Appeal, launched in partnership with the Hunter Foundation, raised more than £1.2m for children in poverty.

Newsreaders Tyrone Smith, Chris Harvey and Sharon Donaldson will be amongst the names taking to the stage to perform with a live backing band in aid of the STV Appeal 2012.

The Granite City's all-conquering The Little Kicks will headline the evening's entertainment, marking their last gig in Aberdeen this year.

As well as gaining airplay on both BBC Radio 1 and 6Music, the band were recently nominated for Best Live Act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards and also named by The Sun and The Scotsman as in their top 10 tips for 2012. Their self-titled second album has also received rave reviews in NME and Is This Music.

The band's frontman Steven Milne said: "The STV Appeal show should be a great night as it's for a great cause, we love playing the Lemon Tree and it's really nice to be asked to be involved and given the chance to play the event.

"On the night we will be splitting any sales of our merchandise with the charity.

"It will be the first night of a week's tour for us but our last Aberdeen gig for the year. At the same time as the tour we will be starting to record a new album as we are booked in to start in September.

"So, aside from a few shows we have booked already, we will be taking time out from gigging and concentrating on the new record and making it as good as possible.

"We're looking forward to the STV Appeal night and hopefully we will help raise a lot of money on the night."

STV's business correspondent Cheryl Paul and Fiona McIlwraith will also feature in the 'Newsreaderaoke' - like Karaoke, but with newsreaders.

The news team will be joined on the bill by covers band Starsky – featuring STV reporter Euan Wemyss – and Aberdeen five-piece Guilty Pleasures who will perform a set of covers ranging from Queen to Adele and Bon Jovi to Abba.

The gig will start at the Lemon Tree at 7.30pm on Friday, September 7.
