Winners of the NSBA 2012 were announced at a gala dinner last night (Thursday October 11) at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Hydrasun was awarded the coveted Overall Global Business of the Year category which recognises the company that is held as an example of excellent practice and an inspiration to global businesses by attaining market prominence.
The company also won the Achievement in International Business award. The award is for the company that has been the most successful in growing its international business value and market share.
The third category Hydrasun won was the Outstanding Contribution to Society award, which is awarded to the company that demonstrates a significant, on-going commitment by aligning its values and business strategy with the greater needs of society.
Bob Drummond, Chief Executive of Hydrasun, said: "We are extremely proud to have won all three categories we were shortlisted for at this year's Northern Star Business Awards. It is recognition of everyone at Hydrasun's hard work and dedication.
"One of the company's primary objectives is to achieve at least 20% year on year growth. Over the past few years our sales have grown significantly from around £60million in 2009 to over £85million for FYE 31 March 2012, with international sales growing from £18million to £31million in the same period. With our current year total sales expected to be around £105million, we are seeing a continuation of the strong growth achieved last year, which is testament to the commitment from the whole company towards achieving our goals."
Hydrasun currently exports to around 60 countries, which has included developing significant sales in countries such as Angola, Brazil, and USA. The company has international operational bases established in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, UAE, Brazil and The Netherlands as well as a further presence in West Africa and the US Gulf of Mexico.
Mr Drummond continued: "We strive to be a progressive company and strongly believe in giving something back to the communities in which we work, so we are honoured to also be awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Society award. We actively encourage our employees to get involved, be enthusiastic, identify with the projects and in their own way further strengthen our ability to make a difference.
"Our on-going programme, Hydrasun in the Community, not only benefits the charities and initiatives we support but also provides our workforce with a greater feeling of community spirit, both within the areas in which they live and within the Hydrasun working community."
The company's global staff numbers have increased by around 100 in the past year to a total workforce of nearly 600 currently, with the majority based in Aberdeen.
In March this year Bob Drummond, was announced as the 2012 winner of the highly prestigious Scottish business award, Grampian Industrialist of the Year.
