Night time bus service just gets betterImprovements to Aberdeen’s night-time bus service come into effect this Friday [28 October]. There are now 17 dedicated highly-visible night bus stops, which will be in operation from midnight until after 3am, on Union Street every Friday and Saturday night. Each stop is marked with a bright orange night bus flag, showing the numbers and destination of each bus service departing from that stop.
It is hoped that the changes to the service will improve public transport usage at night, ensuring a safe journey home from the city centre for revellers. The improvements to the night bus stops coincide with changes being made by First to its night bus service times.
The weekend night-time buses, operated by First and Stagecoach, serve: Bridge of Don; Cove; Culter; Dyce; Ellon; Garthdee; Heathryfold; Inverurie (departing from Union Terrace); Northfield; Peterhead; Seaton; Sheddocksley; Tillydrone; Torry and Westhill.
The night-time bus service is part of the Aberdeen Night-time Transport Zone which was created to improve access to and use of public transport in the city centre while improving safety and cutting violent crime.
It is complemented by the night-time taxi ranks which operate on Union Street from midnight to 5am every night at: St Nicholas Graveyard; Summer Street; Bon Accord Street and Castlegate.
