North East Sensory Services (NESS)On Wednesday 7th December Moray Councillors were updated on the work of North East Sensory Services (NESS), who provide a wide range of support to the 700 plus people of Moray who have a significant Hearing or Sight Loss. At the Health and Social Services Committee, Councillors expressed their appreciation of the services provided by NESS. NESS not only provide the vital Social Work and Rehabilitation Services funded by the council but also have a wide range of other charity funded services including: support for youngsters with a sensory loss, support groups, Computer classes, lipreading classes, talking book services, befriending support, to name but a few.
Chief Executive of NESS, Graham Findlay commented, “we are delighted that the Moray Councillors are happy with what we are providing for them and the citizens of Moray. No one has provided a full joint sensory service before in Scotland and the Moray Council had the vision and the willingness to see this through”. Two years on the service has gone from strength to strength and NESS has used the same model to develop similar services in Aberdeen.
Graham Findlay went on to say that NESS are committed to supporting their service users to be as independent as possible, and thanked the Moray council for their continued support in such difficult times. 130 views
