Northern Star finalists announcedAberdeenshire Council is in the running for two awards in this year’s prestigious Northern Star Business Awards. The local authority has been shortlisted for the Best Campaign Award and the Green Award – both of which are new categories in the annual Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce event. Joining Aberdeenshire in the shortlist of finalists for the Green Award is Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre and Deeside Activity Park while the council will be competing for top spot in the Best Campaign Award with Fruition and Tricker PR. A number of other North-east companies have also double cause for celebration - Hydrasun has been shortlisted for both Outstanding Contribution to Society and Achievement in International Business; Ecosse Subsea Systems has made it as a finalist in both the Commitment to Innovative Use of R&D and Energy awards; Accenture is up for Overall Global Business and Outstanding Contribution to Society; Entier Ltd is shortlisted in both the Overall Global Business and Commitment to People Development; KCA Deutag is a finalist for Overall Global Business and Achievement in International Business. Zenith Oilfield Technology is a finalist in the Commitment to Innovative Use of R&D and one of its employees, Mark Fisher, is a Rising Star finalist. Thirty nine finalists have been shortlisted for 12 categories. The shortlist of finalists for the Student Placement Award will be announced in two weeks while the winner of the Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be named during the ceremony on awards night. This year’s Northern Star Business Awards and Dinner will be held at the Press & Journal Arena at the AECC on Thursday, October 6. The event will be hosted by TV presenter Gaby Roslin and up to 1000 guests are expected to attend the ceremony – one of Scotland’s biggest business award ceremonies. Chamber Chief Executive Bob Collier said that there were a number of newcomers among this year’s nominations. “It is encouraging to see new companies getting involved in this event which has been running for eight years now. It is an excellent way of recognising achievements of the past year and celebrating business success – particularly as that success has come at a time of real economic and business challenge. “We increasingly get feedback from companies about the ongoing benefits and recognition which they have gained from being shortlisted as a finalist – and ultimately, for many, a winner – at Northern Star. The very clear message is that success at the event is much more than just about having a great evening out at the ceremony, it’s about increasing their profile and adding to the bottom line.” If you would like to attend the event or would like information on the few remaining sponsorship opportunities, log on to www.northernstarawards.co.uk The full list of finalists for Northern Star Business Awards 2011 follows:
