NOV ASEP Elmar moves into Brazil
NOV ASEP Elmar, a global market leader in the design and manufacture of wireline pressure control equipment, winches and subsea crown plugs has opened a base in Brazil and won its first major contract in the region. NOV has established a manufacturing and service hub in Macaé, Brazil, to target the South American market and manufacturing is already underway to deliver high pressure subsea crown plugs for a global pressure control company in Brazil. The crown plugs are being installed in wellheads used offshore by oil multinational Petrobras. The new Brazil site is 10,000 sq ft and includes a state of the art machine shop and office facilities. The opening of NOV ASEP Elmar’s Brazilian operation will create up to 45 local jobs with expertise from its Aberdeen operation assisting in the initial set-up of the new operation. By the end of 2011, NOV ASEP Elmar will locally manufacture perforating guns for the South American market. It will also act as an after sales support base for all NOV ASEP Elmar equipment sold into Brazil, including winches and pressure control equipment. Andrew Douglas, sales and marketing director of NOV ASEP Elmar, said: “The opening of our base in Brazil marks further progress in our strategy to grow the business in this market, and Macaé is an excellent point from which we can access the entire Latin America region. “We have a long-established relationship with the majority of the multinational service companies and we are delighted that our equipment is being used on important Petrobras projects. We hope that these projects will provide many more opportunities for NOV ASEP Elmar and we look forward to developing a long-term partnership with service companies and operators in Brazil. “Opening a permanent production base to manufacture products locally will allow us to provide local after sales service to our customers and create jobs for people in the region.” NOV ASEP Elmar is a product group of Houston-based National Oilwell Varco (NOV), employing around 800 employees across its manufacturing and service locations in Europe, North and South America, Middle East and Far East. NOV is a leading provider of oilfield products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry since 1841. NOV’s headquarters are in Houston, Texas USA and it operates in over 700 locations around the world, employing over 40,000 people. 391 Views |
