NOV ASEP Elmar unveils new electric logging truck at OTC
NOV ASEP Elmar, the global market leader in the design and manufacture of wireline pressure control equipment and winches, has displayed its latest fully electric e-drive logging unit at OTC for the first time and said that the first commercial jobs have been completed in North America. This new wireline logging truck, with e-drive technology in the winch system, is the latest addition to NOV ASEP Elmar’s Automation and Winch product ranges.
It is different from other e-drive trucks manufactured by NOV ASEP Elmar because it is the first unit to be designed and built in its industry renowned UniTruck format.
It operates without the necessity of a hydraulic pump, resulting in a quieter, more controlled and environmentally friendly product.
The Aberdeen-headquartered firm recently supplied 6 new units to Houston-based Allied Wireline and the trucks have already successfully completed numerous commercial jobs.
Andrew Douglas, sales and marketing director of NOV ASEP Elmar, said: “It is exciting to see the first fully electric trucks in our UniTruck format operating in North America.
“Allied Wireline is an up and coming oilfield services company delivering the industry’s most advanced open hole and cased hole logging services and we are pleased that Allied has chosen to use our truck-mounted logging winch equipped with our latest e-drive technology.
“This marks a significant milestone in the introduction of a new generation of reliable electric systems across the Americas.”
In October 2010, Allied and GE Oil and Gas announced a partnership agreement whereby GE supplies a broad range of logging tools and related equipment to Allied for well completion projects.
Allied’s first commercial open hole logging job using NOV ASEP Elmar’s e-drive trucks and GE’s tools was the high profile Sprowls 1-14H located in Grady County, Oklahoma, a newly drilled well that is operated by Continental Resources Inc.
NOV ASEP Elmar is a product group of Houston-based National Oilwell Varco (NOV), employing around 800 employees across its manufacturing and service locations in Europe, North and South America, Middle East and Far East.
National Oilwell Varco is a leading provider of oilfield products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry since 1841. NOV’s headquarters are in Houston, Texas USA and it operates in over 700 locations around the world, employing over 40,000 people.
